Madjid Bougherra uncertain about his future in Rangers
Algeria's Magic Madjid Bougherra

Algeria international and Gers defender, Madjid Bougherra admits he is uncertain as to what the future will hold for him at Rangers.

  • « Magic » Madjid Bougherra has endured a turbulent 2009/10 campaign, with late returns from international duty seeing him incur the wrath of boss Walter Smith.
  • He does, however, remain an integral part of the Ibrox set-up and the Gers are reluctant to part with his services.
  • Bougherra has hinted that he will weigh up his options following next summer’s World Cup, with the former Charlton man said to be keen on a return to the Premier League.
  • He has backtracked slightly on those commnets of late, claiming he will leave any decision in the hands of his current employers, but has stopped short of ruling out a summer move elsewhere.
  • The 27-year-old told his Rangers’ official website ; « I have two years of my contract left at the end of the season ».
  • “So it is not for me to say I’ll leave in the summer as it’s not me who makes that decision.”
  • He added: “When I said I don’t want to leave in January and that I wanted to stay for the whole season, that doesn’t mean I want to go after that.
  • “I will still have two years left then and I want to stay. If I am here for two years more then good, as I feel good here.
  • “I will go to the World Cup and we will see what happens after that. Maybe I will sign a new contract with Rangers – who knows?
  • “I’m playing in all the games and I’ve got to play in the Champions League. Everything is good for me to progress.”
  • Previousl, Madjid Bougherra told the Sunday Mirror: “I’ve played in Britain quite a while, so I can claim to know English football well » .
  • “England may be better than us in physical and tactical terms with Fabio Capello as their coach, but we are stronger  than them skills-wise ».
  • “We also possess a quality they don’t have – we play with heart ».
  • “So on a good day we can really beat them. And even if we can’t manage to do that we won’t be embarrassed, believe me.”
