“Mainz” Algerian player Amri Chadli opens his heart to Echorouk

A shy and extremely humble player, but he takes everything aside when it comes to talk bout Algeria although he lived from his native country. The German club, Mainz, player Amer Chadli opened his heart to “Echourouk in a wide –ranging interview, in which he discussed several issues surrounding the Algerian national squad including the events that took place in Cairo and the injuries of his teammates , Meghenni and Belhadj.

  •  Echourok: Welcome Amri to your native town Meghnia, western Algeria, this is Echourouk newspaper?
  • Amri : Hello, I’m sorry you know that I don’t have enough time for me and the prayer’s time is near, but you can ask your questions.
  •  Echourok: Can you talk a bit about your visit and how is your father’s health condition?
  • Amri : Thanks God, you know that my father is ill, that’s why I’m here despite the lack of time but my club’s managers were comprehensive and gave me three days off. I’m little bit reassured about my father his state has improved a bit.
  •  Echourok: Can you tell us about your situation in your club, any news?
  • Amri : thanks God I’m OK, though I’m not a regular player but as long as I’m taking part to the matches and give a plus each time I’m satisfied; moreover everybody is happy with my performances.
  •  Echourok: How did you deal with your injury, and did you feel worry to lose your place in the Algeria squad?
  •  Amri : That was a tough period especially that I contracted the same injury twice, but I didn’t lose hope and got over it because I was confident about my come back; as to my place into the Algerian national team, let me tell you that I didn’t think about it because a player has to impose himself within his club first in order to honor the colors of his national squad.
  •  Echourok: You have received support from the Algerian international players, isn’t?
  • Amri : Sure, I was regularly talking to Nadir Belhadj, and received several calls from other players to uplift my spirit, I didn’t lose contact with my comrades all along this period and this is the strong point of our team… Our group is united and the bounds are very strong between us.
  •  Echourok: how did you react to the attack of the Algerian bus in Cairo?
  • Amri : I was shocked when I heard the news and my first reflex was to get in touch with the  players to know their version of facts, but when I saw the pictures I was disappointed and outraged by the Egyptian fans’ behaviour.
  •  Echourok: Do you know that the president of the Egyptian Football Federation has declared to the fans before the match” do what you want, what matters is the qualification to the world Cup”?
  • Amri : We don’t give too much credit to these details, as professionals our mission starts and ends on the pitch and we don’t have to interfere in the officials’ problems. But this doesn’t prevent me to say that what happened was a shame.
  •  Echourok: Zidan was your friend in Mainz?
  • Amri : ( he interrupts us) no, Zidan was not my friend, he was my colleague in Mainz and have to keep good relations with everybody for the benefit of the group. Personally, I didn’t have any problem with him and he wasn’t one of my close friends.
  •  Echourok: Did he get in touch with you before or after the match in Oumdarman?
  • Amri : If he contacted me I would tell you that he was my friend, but this didn’t happen I cut ties with him after his departure from the club.
  •
  •  Echourok: You haven’t renewed your contract with your club, isn’t?
  • Amri : I’m not worried about this, my club has made an offer and my manager did the same but we didn’t close the negotiations ; I’m happy with my situation in Mainz as to the offers, I can tell you that I have many but everything will be clear in coming weeks.
  •  Echourok: What would be Amri Chadli’s future destination, or do you intent to wait until the end of the World Cup to decide?
  • Amri : I got offers from Germany and France but I’m not keen on coming back to France where we are not welcomed as Arabs, as to the second part of your question, I can tell you that it’s not very professional to play a World Cup deprived of a solid contract to protect you, because nobody can predict the future. On the other hand, I prefer to fully concentrate on the Algeria squad that’s why I prefer to decide on my future destination before the World Cup.
