Market of computers estimated to $400 million in Algeria
General Manager of « Sacomi » company of computers and informatics, Meliani Ahmed Tiba, said the Algerian market of informatics and desktop PCs is estimated at $400 million.

“The main problem in Algeria is the existence of the counterfeited products, thing which requires strict procedures by the government to ban this kind of activities which encourage illegal competition”, he says.

Meliani announced that the volume of the company’s works depends by 40% on its sales of desktops PCs, and it will launch distribution of “Samsung” portable computers by 2010 and may launch installation of the PCs in Algeria, this depends on the volume of the Algerian market which is estimated to $400 million in the field of technologies that are related to informatics and desktops PCs.

“The company aims to expand its share in the market through expanding the network of distributors in all the company’s products and provide good services in the local market in order to be number one, as the number of distributors, reaches 430 at the national level. The Algerian market of computers is divided to 75% and 25% between desktop PCs and Personal PCs. The company expects the marketing of 35.000 desktop PCs by 2010 compared to 28.000 in 2008.
