Mascara: “The citizens' administrative documents in the … dustbin”
Hundreds of citizens gathered yesterday at the entrance of the market of the Oued road in the city of Mascara, in western Algeria, after the discovery of their files, supposed to be at the level of the Administration facility, thrown into a garbage dump.

The news spread like wildfire. The inhabitants of the city rushed to look for their respective administrative files among the rubbish.

Among the retrieved documents, there were birth and marriage certificates, family certificates as well as certificates of residence and a staggering number of photographs of many male and female citizens settled in the city.

It is yet not known who is to be held accountable for this astounding and blameworthy act.

But the authorities of the local municipality hastened to set up an investigation commission to look into the ins and outs of the affair.

In a first reaction, the deputy mayor, Zohir Safir, ruled out the idea that this most reprehensible act was committed by one of the local municipal services.
