Massive resignations from MPA party over Benyounes’ outrageous pre-election remarks

The latest offending remarks made during a pre-election rally in Algiers by MPA party leader and current Minister of industrial development and investment promotion, Amara Benyounes, literally insulting those who oppose incumbent Bouteflika’s fourth mandate have triggered a stunning shockwave within the party with numerous militants tendering their collective resignation as a result.

A member of the national MPA bureau in charge of organization, Mourad Balouchrani, told Echorouk that a large number of MPA militants had resigned en masse as a sign of utter indignation and anger at the recent outrageous statements made by Amara Benyounes who didn’t waver to insult and to curse those Algerians opposed to Bouteflika’s new reelection bid during the upcoming April 17 presidential polls.

Mr Balouchrani explained that the collective resignation drive was the direct consequence of the serious lapses and damaging drifts committed by senior party members including Amara Benyounes himself whose posture and dealings are dubbed as “blameworthy” and “unacceptable” by a large number of MPA militants, he added.

He stressed to this effect that dozens of MPA militants from various provinces of the country had decided to step down from the party over the past two days because of the irresponsible practices of the MPA leadership.

He added that Amara Benyounes didn’t abide by the internal laws and regulations of the party and took “individual” and dictatorial” decisions, as he put it.

He further indicated that hundreds of other disgruntled militants were also expected to quit the MPA party in the coming days, on account of these irresponsible dealings.
