Meetings of Turkish and Syrian intelligence in Algiers and Tehran
Ismail Hakki Pekin of the Turkish Homeland Party said talks were held between Ankara and Damascus with the involvement of Algeria and Iran.
Pekin who was a General in the Turkish army also said members of his party have gone to Damascus for five times since last May. “We met a number of Syrian officials led by President Bachar Al Assad.”
He added that talks were held about security and political issues along with economic and commercial cooperation.
Speaking about Tehran’s role in those talks, he said his party does not need any mediator with Syria. “Our relation was not cut. The government in Turkey knows that. Yet, it is possible that Terhan would have arranged meetings of other personalities.”
Speaking about other possible meetings held in Algeria, Pekin said some meetings would have been held between intelligence of both countries “but we have nothing to do with them.”
“I think that the meetings are still held. One of them take place in Tehran,” he added.
