Mehrez Is 2016 Best Player In The Maghreb Region
Algerian star, Riad Mehrez, won the title of best player of the Maghreb region in 2016, in a poll which was launched by “France Football” magazine, which nominated three players, Riyad Mahrez from Algeria, Soufiane Boufal from Morocco, and Ali Al Maloul from Tunisia.
British Leicester City’s football star, Riyad Mehrez, got 55% of the votes, then the Tunisian, Ali Maâloul, who is playing for the Egyptian club, Al Ahli, commes second with 11% of the votes. While the Moroccan, Soufiane Boufale, who plays for Southampton club in England, comes third with 7% of the votes.
“France Football” poll shows that Mehrez deserves this new title, thanks to his performance in the last season when he led his team Leicester City to the Premier League for the time in its history, after scoring 17 goals and contributing in other 11 goals.
After this Maghreb title, Mehrez realizes a new achievement after a number of awards which he already won last and most important of all was the CAF Award for the best African player of the year 2016, as he is considered the third Algerian player who won this title after Lakhdar Belloumi in 1981 and Rabah Madjer in 1987.
French report explained that Mehrez, who is in Gabon since Thursday with the Algerian football team, in order to fight in the 31 African Nations Cup finals, is in front of a big challenge with the beginning of 2017, where he will run in this competition, which carries a very big responsibility in front of the Algerian fans who wait for him to the leadership of the Greens to achieve the second African title, after the only African cup on the territory of Algeria in 1990.
