Merkel Renews Willingness To Visit Algeria
Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, contacted, on Tuesday, the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, to talk about the development of the bilateral cooperation and the situation in the region.
Prime Ministry’s statement said; “PM Sellal received, on Monday, a phone call from Angela Merkel, who asked about the health of the President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, and confirmed full readiness to visit Algeria as soon as possible”.
“Angela Merkel, thanked President Abdelaziz Bouteflika who invited her to visit Algeria, and expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relationships between the two countries, and wished to see a progress in the economic field and other areas as well”.
“The phone conversation between the PM Sella and the German chancellor, Angela Merkel, addressed the issue of cooperation in the fight against terrorism and illegal immigration, referring in this regard to the consensus of views on strengthening the means and the capacity to stop these phenomena in the framework of agreements between the two countries”.
Regarding the situation in the region, especially in Libya and the Sahel, “Algeria confirmed its readiness to participate in the peaceful settlement of disputes and the overall aim of achieving stability in the region, and put an end to the phenomena of terrorism and transnational crime”.
The statement concluded by saying that the two sides asserted on the other hand that “there are common visions on the most important issues of common interest”.
