Military World Cup: Algeria defeats Germany
The Algerian military team Monday started their campaign to defend their world title with success as they defeated Germany (2-1).
The match was played in Oman’s capital Muscat as part of the first round the world military championship 2017.
The two goals where scored by Abderrahmane Meziane in the 33rd minute and Sofiane Khadir in the 86th minute. Germany scored in the 63rd minute.
The Algerian military team repeated the Spain World Cup 1982 scenario as Algeria won against Germany (2-1).
The Algerian military team are coached by Mohamed Boutadjine, 49. He is a former player in Hussein Dey team. He succeeded Younes Iftissane who led the same team to the Military World Cup 2015 in South Korea.
The Algerian military team include players who were brilliant either in the national championship or the Olympic team. F them, there are Farid Chaal, Houari Ferhani, Zakaria Deraoui and Mohamed Amine Hamia.
In the same group, the Iranian military team will play against North Korea on Monday.
In the second round, Algeria will face Iran on Wednesday. Two days later, they will play against North Korea.
