Ministries, public companies freeze anti-espionage acquisition under pretext of austerity

Information and Communication Technologies expert, Younes Kerrar, called upon the government, to impose a mandatory adoption of electronic security and surveillance systems in ministries and public institutions, in the forefront Algeria Post and Sonatrach wondering about the reason for austerity of some institutions and ministries in the acquisition of the protection systems, although some software’s cost does not exceed 1,000 ZDZ per year.
Kerrar told Echorouk that the cost of electronic protection systems does not exceed 1% of the institution or the ministry’s budget, as the company which has equipment worth 100 billion centimes, the cost of the e-protection system, in the most expensive cases which does exceed one billion centimes, in time the cost of some protection systems does not exceed 1,000 dinars per year, but the public companies, institutions and ministries hesitate to adopt these systems and neglect them, although the lowest penetration process that may penetrate all the company’s hardware or allow checking out the numbers, secret deals and future transactions, at least.
“A number of ministries and public companies buy electronic protection systems every year, but they do not activate them, they spend money on systems and programs which they do not even know how to use them, which raises many exclamation and question marks, especially since a number of institutions noticed some penetration, whether for e-mails or even the computers.”
On the other hand, the same expert warned of penetration operations of citizens’ e-mail that were sent to the Justice and Interior Ministries, and institutions of public services and trade in Algeria by foreign competing institutions, calling upon the government to intervene to secure the networks and update the surveillance systems that noticed penetration.
