Ministry of Culture: 500 new works about Tlemcen

Ministry of Culture will produce over 500 works related to the city of Tlemcen (West of Algeria) in the framework of the Cultural event “Tlemcen Capital of Islamic Culture”, the ministry said here on Tuesday.

“Culture Ministry has given its final approval and signed 100 contracts with private and public publishers to produce 500 works about the city of Tlemcen in the context of the cultural event”, Yasser Arafat Gana, deputy director of Book production at the Ministry of Culture said.

These works focus more on history and heritage of Tlemcen and the multiple roles played by ancient civilizations socially, economically, politically since prehistoric times, until post independence.

 Tlemcen, capital of Islamic Culture will start officially on April 16, 2011, which is Science Day in Algeria and will last throughout the year.
