More than one million Algerians travelled to 43 countries over the past 6 months

The number of Algerians who travelled abroad during the six months of the current year reached more than 1,037,707 people, under different functions, spread over approximately 500,000 Algerians, versus 700,000 who came to 43 coutries from the Maghreb, Europ, Asia, Africa and the USA. 

  • The majority of these people had travelled overland at the rate of 300,000 people mostly at the forefront of Tunisia, which is the Algerians first touristic destination; compared to about 650,000 people who travelled by air and more than 94,000 Algerians traveled by sea for tourism, work and trade.
  • The report of the border police directorate, at the general directorate of the National Security – avilable at Echorouk-, about the movment of persons during the period from January until June of this year, said that more than one million Algerians travelled illegaly across the ports and airports, especially across the eastern borders, towards 43 countries, for variuos reasons.
  • More than half million Algerians travelled to France
  • France remains at the top of the European countries, because 510.000  Algerians travelled there by boats or plains during this year’s first six months, including 165,000 non-residents, who do not have any residence card, then Spain which seems a new Algerians’ destination, because it recived 54,001 Algerians mmostly youngs, including about 28,000 non-resident there.
  • Egypt remains at the top of the Arab countries which received 11,640 Algerians, including more than 10,000 non-residents, followed by UAE with 8913 Algerians, mostly non-resident there too, and then Jordan with 1,228, including more than 1,000 Algerians non-residents, while only 735 Algerians travelled to Lebanon; including 603 non-resident, despite the war in this country.
  • Syria which emphasized the control of its borders comes at the second place after Egypt, where 9.000 Algerians travelled, including 8,644 non-resident .
