Moroccan fans pray for a victory to the Algerian squad versus Egypt

The frenzy surrounding the match opposing the Algerian national squad to the Egyptian side has crossed the borders and reached the neighboring countries especially the Moroccan streets.

  •
  • The Moroccan fans met both in “Casa Blanca” and the capital city “Rabat” were all wishing the best to the Algerian squad and expressed their total support for the “Greens” despite the fact that their national squad “Atlas Lions” are set to play a crucial match versus Cameroon abroad.
  •
  • Some explained this wave of sympathy by the fact that both countries are located in the same geographical zone, and others linked it to the cultural and traditional similarities between the two nations, while a third view came up with the conclusion that the fate of the two squads (Algeria and Morocco) are bound to each other, they have to win their matches if they want to qualify to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
  •
  • These are some declarations made by Moroccans to our reporter:
  •
  • Salah / A (Journalist at the Moroccan News Agency): “ I think that a setback is forbidden for either squads, even if pressure is greater on the “Greens” because they are receiving the other side in front of fans known for their chauvinism especially when it deals with the Egyptians.  But cautiousness is required because the Pharaohs will do their utmost to catch up the false step during the first round, on the whole the Algerian squad has always taken up the challenges in hard times weighing the balance on its side”.
  •
  •
  • Mohammed. R ( warden) : “ I occasionally follow the Algerian squad news, and I’m convinced that the Greens will be on top versus the Egyptian side. I hope that they will remake the same thing as in 2004 when number 10 (Achiou) scored the victory goal. “
  •
  • Adil ( civil servant): “ The task will be tough for both squads but being very close to the Algerian people we will be all behind this squad, and we are convinced that they can take up the challenge, though the task will not be easy before the Egyptians. We will try to watch the match on TV even if it coincides with the match opposing Morocco versus Cameroon” .
