Moroccans Threaten The Mekhzen Regime To Resort To Algeria
In the last 48 hours, the eastern border region of the Kingdom of Morocco noticed a wave of mass protests that were sparked by the incident on the border between Algeria and Morocco, where elements of the the Moroccan Mekhzen killed a Moroccan citizen in the border village of Bani Darrar where his funeral turned into a kind of trial of the Moroccan regime, before extending to the rest of the border areas and the villages of Ahfir, as the a wave of anger reached the capital of the eastern Moroccan city “Oujda”.
Moroccan media reported that the victim, Ammar Salhi, 48, was wounded by two shots from the Moroccan border guards at around 10 pm on Saturday, in the military zone No. 34 near the roundabout of Oulad Saleh of the region of Beni Derrar eastern Morocco.
The victim crossed the border between the two countries on the same night before being spotted by Algerian border guards that are stationed along the border, and after succeeding in escaping the Algerian border guards and crossing the trench, he climbed the iron fence that Morocco placed on its border with Algeria, and there he spoke with the Mekhzen elements who shot him dead.
Protests spread like wildfire when the Moroccan security forces evaded responsibility for the victim’s death, and some media outlets that are close to the Mekhzen reported that the victim was under the influence of hallucinations and other accusations that increased the anger of the border population, where many of them are active in smuggling, which was The tightened by Algeria’s control, especially since smuggling has never been balanced, and since the products that were smuggled from Algeria are mostly subsidized by the public treasury and Algerian goods, while in contrast, drug and hallucinogenic pills such as ecstasy remain at the top of the products that are coming from the other side of the borders.
In another context, and far from what is happening in the Kingdom of Morocco, the Algerian border noticed the arrival of additional reinforcements of the National Gendarmerie and border guards, who have intensified their presence along the borders, especially as some Moroccan protesters threatened to resort to Algeria after suffering oppression by the Moroccan regime.
