Morocco denies the existence of U.S mediation between Algiers and Rabat
Morocco renewed its call on Algeria for opening the land borders that have been closed for 15 years now, a stalemate that has caused unprecedented economic woes for Rabat, and for the population of the western regions adjacent to the Algerian borders.

The Moroccan Minister of Information, Khaled Ennasiri, described the continued closure of the land borders between the two countries as “unjustified”, “Nothing was justified to close the land borders between Algeria and Morocco”, he said.

The Moroccan official, in a tone that exceeded the limits of diplomatic norms said, “We still believe in Morocco that the closure of the borders is a strange act that doesn’t serve the development of the relationships between the two peoples”.
-
-
“The Moroccan government asked for the opening of the land borders. We will continue to call for opening the borders because we believe that the continued closure of the borders is dishonorable to the Maghreb3.
-
-
“ It is unreasonable that this issue is the second in the world still pending, after the issue of the sealed borders between the North and South Korea, which dates back to the early fifties”.

Algeria confirmed many times that the issue of opening the borders with Morocco can not be settled through the acrobatic statements by Moroccan officials on occasions, and insisted that this issue can’t be reduced to the economic aspect of Morocco, but must be dealt with in an overall approach, as the Algerian Minister of the Interior said in previous statements.
