Muslim preacher El Karni praises Algeria

Muslim preacher Ayed El Karni called on the Algerian government to integrate repentant terrorists in society as part of the National Reconciliation.

• “If the government settles the social and financial problems of the repentant terrorists, others will be convinced in the Reconciliation,” El Karni said Saturday in a TV program at Iqraa channel.
• “The repentant terrorists want decent living,” he added.
• He gave the example of the integration of extremists in Saudi Arabia in various positions and schools.
• El Karni’s remarks come few days after his visit to Algeria. He met a group of repentant terrorists at Echorouk’s headoffice. They asked him to urge Algerian officials to take necessary measures for their social integration.
• Safe Algeria
• El Karni said he thought Algeria witnessed violence and he was reluctant about coming there. On the other hand, he said he was surprised when he saw people living in peace contrary to some reports.
• “I walked in many Algerian towns and villages. Security surveillance was not stringent. That makes me praising the National Reconciliation which opened doors for people to gain self-confidence far from extremism, violence and terror.”

• Cheikh El Karni said he liked Algeria’s nature, describing it as a “piece of the Paradise.”
• He highlighted the Algerian landscapes including mountains, the sea, the desert, palms and wheat fields.
• Generosity of Algerians
• Cheikh El Karni thanked Algerian national and local authorities, security forces, religious affairs officials and Echorouk’s Chief Editor for welcoming him.
• He pointed out the meeting surprise with the repentant terrorists at Echorouk’s headoffice in Algiers and thanked the newspaper for offering him an Algerian traditional dress.
• “That gift is one of the incomparable Algerian generosity images,” he said.
• He believes that Algerian people were the first to understand religion and protect it from colonisers.
• “It is clear through the Algerian warm welcome of Muslim scholars that Islam’s future will be promising and ideal.”
• El Karni said Algerians are courageous, clear, nationalist and honest. He praised Echorouk newspaper and its initiative to hold a meeting between him and a number of repentant terrorists.
