Muslims Of France: “Do We Have To Wear Green Jackets To Express Our Positions On The Republican Table?”

French Council of Muslim Faith threatened to repeat the scenario of the “yellow jackets” that have swept through the largest French cities in recent weeks, but by wearing “green jackets” to express their rejection of the way they are treated by the French authorities regarding the conduct of Islamic affairs in France.

The threat, coupled with French President Emmanuel Macron’s decision about representation of the community at the upcoming meeting on Monday at the Elysee Palace in Paris, where he is expected to discuss how to run the Islamic religion in this secular country.

A statement, which copy is available to Echorouk, and which was signed by Abdellah Zakri, the General Delegate of the French Council of Muslim Faith and the head of the French Observatory Of Combating Islamophobia, said: “On January 7, the French President, Emmanuel Macron, will meet with Muslim figures who were chosen by the French Interior Ministry”.

The same services have alienated other personalities, and this would remind us of the stage of colonial Islam, because it is not the French Council of the Muslim Faith which chose the members, but French officials (…) are the ones who decided to do so.

According to Zakri, chairman of the French Council for the Muslim Faith, Ahmed Oughras, expressed his protest to the French President’s advisers because he did not consulted with the council, even by proposing personalities who are known for their interest in the Islamic religion in France, or from the most representative figures on the ground.

“French authorities’ decision forced us to the uprising, because they consider the French Muslims as the people of the Republic”, according to the statement.

The French Council of the Muslim Faith called on the French authorities to “treat the council’s members like other officials of other religions, within the framework of respect” and called on the French President to equal treatment of all representatives of religions in France.

The statement concluded with a language that carries a lot of threat: “There are yellow jackets … Do we have to wear a green jacket so that we can express our positions on the Republican table?”

Previously, the chairman of the French Council of the Muslim Faith rejected the French state’s guardianship on Islam, referring to the statements of the French President, Emmanuel Macron, who said he is working to redefine the relationships between Islam and the state.

“Everyone must adhere to his/her role. The Islamic religion is a doctrine, and therefore it is interested in its own affairs”, Oughras asserted.
