Mutton import not forbidden any more in Algeria
Importing mutton to Algeria will be allowed starting from September 1st after 4 months of suspension, Algerian Trade Minister Hachemi Djaaboub said Wednesday.
-
The government took the decision to stop mutton import on May 10 due to the difficult situation this sector suffered from including drought and scarcity of fodder.
-
The minister stressed the necessity of respecting the law on commercial activity, hygiene standards, necessary control and prices.
-
According to Djaaboub, demands on certain food including tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, fruit and meat would go up during the first week of the sacred fasting Muslim month of Ramadhan. “That would cause perturbation in prices.”
