Nancy Ajram the New Goodwill Ambassador to UNICEF

Lebanese Singer Nancy Ajram was appointed the new goodwill ambassador to the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), AFP reported last week.

• In her role as goodwill ambassador Ajram will help raise awareness of children’s issues, particularly early childhood development, child protection, education and youth participation.
• Ajram is the second UNICEF regional ambassador after Egyptian actor Mahmoud Kabil, who congratulated Ajram from an IDP – internally displaced persons – camp in Yemen via videoconference, welcoming her to the UNICEF family.
• Kabil held his position as ambassador since 2003.
• The pop singer Aajram expressed her happiness to hold such a title and thanked all those present for standing by her.
• “It’s a lifelong dream come true,” said Ajram, describing her new position as “one of the most important achievements of my life as an artist, a human being and as a mother.”
• She also thanked UNICEF.
