National data base to prevent violent fans from entering stadiums
A presidential decree published on Algeria’s Official Journal on Sunday included new measures to end violence in stadiums and punish rioters. Of them, a national data base to prevent rioters from entering stadiums.
This comes as previous “simple” measures failed to stop rioters. The new text stipulates the use of other means such as schools and mosques to sensitize people about the danger of violence in sportive events. Sanctions will be raised as fans who shout racist and hatred words will be jailed for 5 years.
Fans who offend the anthem of any foreign country will be sentenced to six years in prison while fans who do not pay their tickets will have to pay 51,000 DZ fine.
The law also touched players, managers and coaches involved in doping. They can be jailed for two years and will have to pay 100 million centimes. Fake managers will be sentenced to 1 year in prison.
