National Gendarmerie Commander: Algeria should reinforce defence system and face potential threats

National Gendarmerie Commander Menad Nouba Sunday stressed the necessity of reinforcing Algeria’s defence system so that it would be efficient and sophisticated.

Nouba gave strict instructions to ensure the safety of Algeria’s western borders and counter smuggling.

In a meeting with senior gendarmes in Oran, Nouba stressed the necessity fo stepping up security road accident prevention measures. 

He said the National Gendarmerie’s units should always be ready and increase their operational performance level. “All the necessary human and physical means should be allocated.”

The meeting was attended by senior gendarmes from 12 provinces in the west of Algeria. Of them, intervention unit commanders and border guards were present. 

He also incited all his units to adapt security plans to criminal plans. “Human and physical means should be deployed. Air tools should be used to ensure the safety of people and their properties.”

He called for supporting criminal investigations and reinforcing actions with the judicial police. “Different prevention measures should be executed to foil any attempt to harm people and properties,” he said.

He gave an instruction to all the National Gendarmerie’s units in western Algeria to use all the necessity human and physical means to ensure the safety of borders. “There is a need to fight smuggling, illegal immigration and drug smugglers.”
