National Gendarmerie investigates into Shia-related cases in Algeria

Commander of the National Gendarmerie’s Provincial Group in Batna Abdelkader Sadak Wednesday said security forces will continue dismantling Al Ahmaddiya’s cells. This came as six persons had been arrested while other activists still operate for the sect cells.

The commander said the National Gendarmerie forces keep watch on all the intellectual and religious trends which are not in conformity with official and popular beliefs. This is done upon official instructions from security authorities and the religious affairs ministry. 

He added that four Shia-related cases were treated as investigations showed that a number of activists work on spreading Shia doctrine in the province of Batna.
