Nebbou: “Pro-Government Parties Scuttled FFS Party’s Initiative for Consensus Achievement”
“The FFS First Secretary Mohamed Nebbou has said that the FFS Party is striving through its sustained political endeavour to bring about a genuine change in the entire establishment system in Algeria and not a change in one person or another at the helm of the power.
“We are working for the Algerian nation and not against X or Y”, Mohamed Nebbou underlined Sunday during a press conference held at the party’s national headquarters in Algiers. This assertion has the merit of being clear.
And the country’s oldest opposition party has, through the voice of Mr Nebbou, again clearly reiterated its refusal to join the dynamics created by the “CNLTD” opposition alliance and subsequently reinforced by the “Pole of the Forces for Change” spearheaded by the former head of Government Ali Benflis, as well as by a number of non-partisan personalities and intellectuals.
The FFS prefers ostensibly to go it alone. The FFS objective is rather to bring everybody together around the same table namely the opposition, the power and the civil society.
A daring bet? Anyway, the FFS party firmly believes in it. Its first Secretary vowed to “work tirelessly to achieve this targeted political consensus”.
Mr Mohamed Nebbou pointed out, in this connection, that his party’s ongoing drive is to muster the most favourable conditions for the smooth holding and the success of the projected national consensus Conference with the involvement of all the parties at issue in order to bail the country out of the current logjam.
