Negotiations For Return Of 400 Thousand Algerian Businessmen And Executives In France

The head of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in France, Kassi Ait Ali, revealed that he had contacted the Algerian ambassador in Paris, to reschedule the work of the high-level Algerian-French cooperation committee, which was expected this September and was postponed due to the Corona crisis

This measure followed the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic, but it is expected that the committee’s proceedings will kick off soon to tackle the common files and the Algerian-French economic partnership projects that are still on the backburner.

The head of the Algerian-French Chamber of Commerce in Paris, Kassi Ait Ali, said in a statement to “Echorouk” that the Algerian-French partnership projects would be viewed as an important step during the next stage.

Algerian businessmen and executives residing in France are keen to invest in Algeria which will benefit from these competencies in terms of money and experience, by programming important projects in Algeria, as this will be a boost and an asset in the economic growth plan as part of the socio-economic recovery program that was recently discussed during the tripartite meeting held weeks ago and also during the joint meeting of the government – walis or governors, chaired by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who issued relevant recommendations regarding this major file.

On the other hand, our interlocutor stressed the possibility of exploiting the capabilities of the presence of millions of Algerians residing in France and across other countries, to embody the program of the new government, stressing that the Algerian competencies abroad should not be neglected, but rather exploited in a way that allows new financial resources to be injected into the Algerian public treasury.

It is known that by September 1, 2020, the Association Agreement between Algeria and the European Union will be applied at a rate of one hundred percent, with regard to customs dismantling, at a time when the Algerian government insists on the need to overhaul the partnership that caused the Algerian treasury to incur losses in dinars and dollars, and turned into a market that spent 308 billion dollars worth of European goods within a period of 16 years, while this prevented Algerian products from winning a pass to the European market, except for oil and gas.

The Algerian-French partnership is part of the partnership with the European Union, as Ali Bey Nasseri, president of the National Association of Algerian Exporters, said in a statement to “Echorouk” stressing that the partnership agreement between Algeria and Europe has achieved negative results for the Algerian treasury starting from 2015 due to the collapse of oil and gas prices, as being the most important products entering the European market, knowing that the Algerian-French partnership had, over the past few years, enjoyed the lion’s share of the concluded deals between Algeria and the European Union countries.
