Networks forge passports in southern Algeria

According to testimonies made by a number of African immigrants in the sub-region, the southern Algerian city of Tamanrasset has become the hub of all sorts of smuggling activities notably the forgery of passports used by Sub-Saharan African immigrants to cross into Algerian territory.

The indicated that several shadowy networks, specialised in forgery and the use of forgeries, provide illegal immigrants with forged passports, for staggering sums of money.

The added that these forgers  have in their possession  all the necessary equipment as well as fake stamps and fake seals for the delivery of counterfeit passports and other official documents including application forms for political asylum seekers.

It should be noted that last year, the National Gendarmerie succeeded in seizing 7 fake seals and 450 forged passports destined to be delivered to African immigrants in the Tamanrasset region.
