New legal procedures in Algeria law
Algerian government gave the go-ahead on Sunday to judicial authorities to replace final sentences against prisoners by works for the public interest.

The new procedure which was published in the Official Journal stipulates the imprisonment period without salary as 40 to 600 hours in conformity with specified conditions.

Minors will work for at least 20 hours but not more than 300 hours. Prisoners are free to choose this procedure or jot, according to the Journal.

The new texts in the amended legal law stipulate stringent sanctions on the phenomenon of using children for begging using which has spread in the Algerian society in unprecedented way.

The accused would be sentenced to 10 years prison with a 100 million centimes fine. Those sanctions are enforceable on anyone who transport, shelter or receive persons by force.

Judges can now sentence illegal immigrants to six months prison with 60,000 DZ fine. This sentence touches foreigners who enter Algeria illegally using fake documents.

The new law deals with human organs trade by issuing a prison sentence of 10 years and 100 million centimes fine on anyone who obtains an organ from a person in return for money or any other benefit.
