No further compromise with the EU and the US: trade minister says

The Algerian trade minister Al Hachemi Djaaboub slammed the European Union for not fulfilling the promises given to the Algerian authorities as part of the partnership agreement signed by both sides including the adhesion of Algeria to the World Trade Organization.

• This U-Turn, he added, is aimed at forcing Algeria to yield to the European nations’ conditions, revealing at the same time that a ministerial committee headed by the Prime Minister is due to meet next week to discuss the questions presented by the United States before forwarding them to the WTO, in order to fix a date for the next round of negotiations.

• M Djaaboub reiterated the Algerian authorities’ refusal to submit to the European and US conditions especially those linked to the revision of the gas prices.

• He admitted that among the pending divergences between Algeria and the EU are those linked to the opening of the Algerian market to the European used cars, the gas prices applied on the domestic market and the industrial real estate.
