Oil Revenues Unite The Loyal and Opposition Parties
Discussions of the government’s plan of action on its first day turned into a session of accountability and a trial of the policies that are adopted.
The remarks and the wishes of the pro-government MPs were contradicted by the criticism of the opposition deputies in one mouth. Why did the government policies fail to save the country from the financial crisis of the country? What are the reasons for extending the way to access alternatives to the dependence of oil revenues.
Contrary to what was expected, the meeting between the Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia, and the heads of the pro-government parties and the heads of their parliamentary blocs did not interrupt the pro-majority deputies, who mostly joined the opposition, which turned the session of MPs’ interventions to an accountability and evaluation of policies.
All the interventions were about the financial crisis of the country, although some tried to defame the criticisms and refine it by engaging in the demand for real alternatives to fuel incomes and the need to exploit them as soon as possible in order to mitigate the impact of the financial crisis on the citizen.
The affiliation of an FLN’s MP, Hadj Hamdache, did not prevent him from commenting; “Talking about alternatives to hydrocarbons began several years ago and was not translated in the field into actual economic operations, which could have avoided the country’s financial problems today.”
Most MPs asked about the real reasons for the failure of policies and the inability to create wealth outside the hydrocarbons sector, especially in the sectors of industry, agriculture and tourism, despite the availability of wealth and the necessary conditions to develop.
MPs called for the need to investigate the causes of the failure to achieve the objectives of policies to diversify the economy and remove it from dependence on fuel, and in the footsteps of FLN’s MPs, the PMs of Ahmed Ouyahia, who is also the chairman of the National Democratic Rally, asked for the transition to tangible results and away from the endoscopy and slogans through discussing the obstacles that prevented the activation of activities of sectors that are able to diversifying revenues outside hydrocarbons, through improving governance and eradicating corruption.
MP from the Labor Party, Ramadan Taazibet, said that the decline in oil prices can not explain alone the “serious” and “very worrying” financial situation in the country, which requires moving quickly to activate the activities of alternative sectors.
He explained that the shortcomings called for a “real reform change” by revising the fiscal policy, and restoring the prestige of the state on foreign trade, and revoking the current austerity measures against the establishment of a wealth tax, and the legal follow-up of suspicious transactions and curbing various forms of corruption.
