The MSP Movement has described the recent message sent to the Algerian political class by former President Liamine Zeroual as a striking condemnation of Bouteflika’s rule during his three successive mandates since 1999.

Lakhdar Benkhalfa: Leading member of Justice and Development Front Party

“Zeroual’s message to the national political class is no surprise and it came a bit late despite the salient fact that former president Zeroual has now clearly voiced his opposition to a fourth straight term in office for incumbent Bouteflika”.

MSP leader Abderrazak Mokri: “It’s an election campaign for the benefit of a single candidate”

“Former President Liamine Zeroual is obviously through his message to the country’s political class against Bouteflika’s fourth mandate stressing that his rule is far from being to the liking of most people. Bouteflika’s close entourage has sought to tarnish the brand image of the National Popular Army through libelous statements and deleterious actions”.

Belkacem Mellah: Senior RND Party leader

“”Zeroual’s political message after observing a long silence wasn’t meant to express his opposition to Bouteflika’s new re-election bid which is in total conformity with the relevant provisions of the country’s constitution. Zeroual’s message is almost similar to the one sent by President Bouteflika to the nation on February 18th, coinciding with the national celebrations of the Chahid or Martyr’s day”.
