Secretary General of Algeria’s RND party Ahmed Ouyahia closed the game to his competitions in an attempt to prevent any unhappy surprise which may hit his political carrier.

Ouyahia made a plan for the Secretary General position. Some leading members of the party explained that by his fears of possible deceiving among his partisans.

The Secretary General’s election was brought forward. This showed that Ouyahia wanted to manage the RND’s extraordinary conference proceedings at ease.

As soon as he finished delivering his opening address, Ouyahia had asked journalists to leave the room and had not allowed them to cover the proceedings. He asked them to come on the conference last day.

In his address, Ouyahia called on the presidential majority parties to work together. Earlier in Summer, he made a similar call after he had been appointed on the head of the party. Yet, no positive reaction was made. Algeria’s FLN party responded by another political initiative which fueled tension between the two parties.

Ouyahia also did not miss the opportunity to criticize the leader of an Algerian separatist movement, Ferhat Mehenni and his partisans for endangering the country’s integrity and coordinating with French Zionist Bernard Henri Levy.

Ouyahia said his party is at the disposal of Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika. He renewed his commitment to support his political project and the country’s institutions including the National Popular Army, the General Union of Algerian Workers and the Enterprises Chiefs’ Forum.

Belkacem Melah: I forced Ouyahia in elections

Candidate for the RND’s Secretary General position Belkacem Melah said he defeated Ouyahia whatever the vote results.

“The party has always used plebiscite policy and has never respected direct secret vote principal,” he told journalists.

“I imposed this principle on the party’s acting Secretary General. This is a triumph for me and not for Ouyahia,” he added.
