National Commission for Combating Corruption put over 100,000 employees, who are concerned with declaring their assets, under control before the end of the current year, at a time the body ended the study declarations of 26895 elected, and is studying statements of the high-ranking officials in the State, as the first statements revealed that 42% of the officials and elected properties are predominantly real estates, and 19% of the officials declare they do not own properties, therefore, they place themselves in the investigation course.
For the first time since eight years ago, the National Commission for Combating Corruption, launched an inventory census of public officials and State staff who are concerned with the declaration of their private properties, including local elected officials, and according to sources from within this body, the number of public officials who are concerned with the declaration of assets before the National Commission for Combating Corruption reaches 100,000 public employees.
According to the data, that is available to the services of studying property declarations, the National Body is in charge of Combating Corruption, is working working in coordination with the services of Justice Ministry, to expand the field of employees who will declare their properties, which is considered a legal measure to combat corruption, after the enlargement process, which included tasks and senior positions in the state, that is listed within the positions that are exposed dramatically to fall in corruption.
It is known that the law targeted, in the first times, local elected in the popular municipal and state councils, before its scope expanded to include other employees, and will widen again in the future, as the declaration of properties will include each of the head of state, ministers, MPs and members of parliament, ambassadors and consuls, judges and the Governor of the Bank of Algeria, however, the point of declaration is different, on the grounds that the senior officials’ declarations will be before the Supreme Court.
According to the instruction that was issued by the Prime Minister, Abdelmalek Sellal, recently, regarding the declaration of assets, as a cornerstone in ensuring the transparency of public life, Echorouk said that the commission completed the study of declarations of private properties of local elected and began, a month ago, in studying the properties of senior officials, and then treating the statements of senior positions.
