Over 22,000 Algerian students study in French universities
Over 300,000 non-French students study in French universities, where the number of foreign students who visited France last year reached 295,000 students, which is equivalent to 7% of the total number of students, French “The Local” newspaper reveals.
“Algeria ranks third in the list of countries that students mostly wish to study in France, at a rate of 22.000 university students, behind all of Morocco by 34,000, followed by China with 30.000 students, as students of these countries represent about 40% of French university students.”
“As for Europe, Italy comes in the forefront with 9,322, then Germany 8,978, Spain by 6,963, at a time when the number of students from America reached 4.909 students and Britain 3.982.”
The newspaper, which headlined its article as “You are not the only foreigner who is studying in French universities”, explained that Paris is the first destination for the international study, as it includes 59,000 foreign students, followed by Versailles and Crétale. In 2013 – 2014 the two cities included 24,000 and 22,000 students, respectively.
Paris enjoys a good reputation in education worldwide, and Lion, Lille and Toulouse as well, which ranked as the best place for students.
There are some other cities that have more than 10,000 students, including Marseille, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Nantes, Rennes, Grenoble and Strasbourg.
Foreign Baccalaureate graduates represent 12.1% of the total number. The doctoral programs’ students make represent 41.4%. As for the programs which they prefer, the newspaper explained that they prefer the languages and the arts, and human sciences programs, and sport, economics as well.
