Over 36 kg of drugs seized west of Algeria

The Regional Gendarmerie of Ain Tmouchent, west of Algeria, seized Tuesday morning 62 kg of drugs that were thrown by the waves in Bouzdjar and Tarka beaches in Ain Tmouchent.

• The regional gendarmerie of Ain Tmouchent told Echorouk that the clean-up operations that continue for more than two weeks resulted in the recovery of 30 kg of drugs in Tarka beach and 2 kg in Bouzedjar beach.

• The same sources said that security measures were tightened in the coastal regions and members of the gendarmes and municipal guards were lifted up to 1000 elements who are deployed day and night along the coast and instructions were given to keep more vigilance and citizens were called through Ain Timouchent’s radio station as well.

• Preliminary investigations confirm the presence of a second boat containing another shipment of drugs which were smuggled from Ennadour, Moroccan city, towards Europe via Algeria.

• Previously, the regional gendarmerie of Ain Timouchent seized 3546 kg of drugs between 8 and 19th April.
