Over 573 kg of drugs seized in Bejaia in one year
An assessment survey issued by the regional National Gendarmerie unit of Bejaia, east of Algeria, showed a decline in the number of crimes and offences against persons.

The National Gendarmerie squads dealt with 404 cases leading to the arrest of 1.210 people, including 21 women.

The statistics show a decline in crimes in the year 2008. They reached 79.94% after they were previously set at 87.20%.

76 criminal cases were addressed in 2008 and 573. 24 kg of drugs including 55.1 kg of cannabis were also seized by the elements of the national gendarmerie in the region.
