Over 98% of naturalized Algerians in France retain their original nationality

Algerian nationals are the second naturalized migrants in France after the Moroccans in 2013, French Interior Ministry said.
“98% of naturalized Algerians are French and prefer to keep the original Algerian nationality, as statistics showed that Moroccan nationals are the migrants who are mostly granted the French citizenship.”
According to the response of the French Interior Ministry, on the accountability to the French Senate which is dated on March,5, on the number of dual nationality, the number of Algerians who are naturalized at the decision of the French public authorities and not by decrees, reached 4427 cases, during 2013 alone, of whom 4346 Algerians who preferred to keep their original nationality, through informing the French administrative authorities that they intend to keep the Algerian nationality in order to have a dual nationality.
According to the same response, the number of Algerians who abandoned the Algerian nationality after the acquisition of French nationality are only 81 cases, which is only 2% (1 break and 82%), while those who have decided to keep the Algerian nationality, reach more than 98%, which is a vast percentage.
In terms of migrants who have mostly gained the French nationality, Moroccan nationals who benefited in 2013 from 4884 cases of naturalization, and 4809 of them preferred to retain their original nationality in addition to the French national, while 71 of them decided to give up the Moroccan nationality, while about 1,600 Tunisians benefited from naturalization during the same period.
