Party leader slams Constituional Council
Faouzi Rebaine

The 54 Era party leader, Fouzi Rebaine has slammed the Constitutional Council for having reconsidered the elections’ results changing down the position of his party, saying that this institution is playing the game of the president and by extension punished his party for being in the opposition.

  • M Rebaine has indicated that he will forward a detailed report to the UN office here in Algiers including the irregularities registered during the electoral campaign as well as the elections. Meanwhile the other candidate Mohammed Said refused to comment the Council’s final deliberations saying that they will not change anything to these elections.
  • Rebaine’s campaign manager Aissa Belmeki described these elections as being a plot against the party which expected by the Rebaine “After our refusal to shift our position or moderate it, we were expecting such a reaction from the constitutional council which is part of the regime and plays the game of the authorities”, he said.
  • He went on saying that the authorities rewarded Mohammed said at our expense because he resorted to join the president’s camp when he congratulated him through the media immediately after the announcement of the elections’ outcome.
  • For his part, M Mohammed Said has declared last Friday that “all the five candidates to the presidential elections were at the last position and there is no difference between the one who came at the second or the last”.
