Work with the penalty point system in driving licence will be relaunched, which includes tight punitive actions that may reach up to the final draw for a driver’s license and depriving the driver from running again to obtain this document for a period ranging from six months to a year after running out of the points, Chairman of the National Center for Security and Prevention across Roads, Hachemi Boutalbi, said.

“This action came after a continuous increase of victims of traffic accidents from one year to another, as 961 people were killed and more than 13,000 were perished in 9,000 traffic accidents, which is larger than those recorded last year, which in turn noticed a rise in the number of the dead and wounded, compared with the years that preceded it, because of high-speed by most young drivers and the large number of cars reaching Eight million.”
Previously, Transport Ministry has frozen for three months, the work with the penalty points system in driving licences for unknown reasons, which subjected the ministry to a wave of criticism by specialists and media, and this forced it to analyse this project, according to Hachemi Boutalbi, who was invited on Wednesday by the Morning Guest that is aired by the National Radio .
“To reduce traffic accidents, the ministry intends to take a number of measures, including those related to the completion of regulatory texts and improve transport patterns and environment, in order to regulate the traffic and the completion of the traffic schemes, and move through cities to activate the technical inspection of vehicles and awareness as well.”
