PHD schools to be expanded to 83 and LMD masters to 2240
Most of the Algerian universities and institutes identified next October as a date for launching the master’s exams and register in the PHD program of 2009/2010.

In this context, Rachid Heraoubia, the Minister of High Education and Scientific research, revealed at the hearing session which was summed up Monday for the sector of high education and scientific research, that 7184 jobs will be created in the master exams for this session with the recruitment of more than 3000 new professors.

He also spoke on the increasing of the schools of PHD to 83, as well as the opening of 2240 jobs is the LMD master exams.

“Algerian universities form one professor out of 30 students”, he says.

On other hand, a number of professors expect a large number of MA holders to participate in the PHD exams in order to obtain a grant of 12.000 dinars, decided by the government for the holders of PHD every month.

The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research also identified the list of the universities and institutes that are qualified to ensure the configuration of the master’s degree, which includes Constantine, Annaba, Batna, Oum El Bouaki, Setif, Skikda, east of Algeria, and Algiers, Medea, and Blida, central Algeria, as well as the rehabilitation of other university centers in Souk Ahras, Taref, Bordj Bouariridj, Khenchla, east of Algeria, and El Ouad and Ghardaia, south of Algeria.
