Plan to speed up Hassi Messaoud town construction
The town of Hassi Messaoud
Algerian energy minister Chakib Khelil presented on Sunday a detailed conception of the new town of the Hassi Messaoud oil basin in Ouargla province (800km south of Algiers).

In an inter-ministerial meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia, Khelil made a presentation about the location of the town and its budget.

According to the minister, the oil companies operating in Hassi Messaoud including Algeria’s Sonatrach will fund the construction of new headoffices in the town.

The town will accommodate 80,000 residents and an energy island which will be the general headoffice of oil companies operating in the area.

The project includes administrative facilities, university institutes, training and research centres, mosques, infrastructures and sportive centres.

The ministerial meeting came up with a plan of action on a set of instructions in terms of the construction.
