PM: no general amnesty for Algeria killers
Ahmed Ouyahia

Algerian Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia said Friday there is no general amnesty in terms of law, mentioning Algerian President’s conditions to grant the amnesty.

  • Ouyahia asked the national press to be careful in dealing with security issues, criticising some newspapers for promoting terrorist groups.
  • “Everyday, I read the newspapers. I realized that some of them always publish pictures of terrorists,” he told a news conference in Algiers.
  • Speaking about democratic practice, Ouyahia said the government took a set of measures meant to restore security stability. “Some meetings in mosques are banned but the government does not forbid men with beards to stay in coffee shops or any other places.”
  • He confirmed that medicines sector in Algeria is under the control of lobbies. On the other hand, he said the government is fighting them and will never accept any blackmail.
  • Speaking about investment, Ouyahia said the government achieved large significant reforms in terms of customs and procedures system.
  • He criticised some operators for giving pretexts to not enter the Algerian market. “The point is competition and not any other thing.”
