PM Sellal Confirms That FAF President Raouraoua Is In Hospital
Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal has confirmed the transfer of the ailing President of the Algerian Football Federation Mohamed Raouraoua to hospital without giving further details.
Mr Sellal gave no specific indication about neither the type of illness now besetting Mr Raouraoua nor about which hospital he is now in.
But some reliable sources suggested that Mr Raouraoua is now under medical treatment in a French hospital after hurriedly leaving Gabon on Thursday night.
Premier Abdelmalek Sellal also announced Sunday that an “overall assessment” would be made on the performance of the Algerian football team players in the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2017) following their return to the country.
“An assessment will be made following the return of the national football squad to the country,” Mr Sellal told the press on the sidelines of the first meeting of the High independent committee for election monitoring (HIISE) at the Palace of Nations (on the western coast of Algiers).
After a very disappointing draw against Zimbabwe (2-2) in their opening fixture in Franceville stadium, the Greens were later defeated by Tunisia (2-1).
Algeria will have to face Senegal on Monday but they need a large victory over the Senegalese, while counting on a triumph of Zimbabwe versus Tunisia, to be able to secure a berth to the quarter-finals of this African competition.
