Police Director General unveils plot to undermine the institution’s stability
Cutting short to speculations concerning deep dissentions between him and the interior minister and his most likely departure, the Algerian police Director General, Colonel Ali Tounsi has declared that it has been put an end to a plot to undermine the national security stability thanks to “The integrity and high sense of responsibility of the police forces†as well as to the climate of trust that’s prevailing inside this institution†from the top to the base and vice versaâ€.

Taking the floor last Thursday before police officers at the Senior Police School here in Algiers, colonel Ali Tounsi seized the opportunity to reiterate his firm intent to unmask those who want to destabilize this institution, considering these allegations as baseless which “ aim at undermining the stability of the security forces’ ranks”.For the first time ever, the colonel addressed the newly graduated police officers saying “They have asked me to give a speech even if I’m not used to do it in such occasions, because it’s the role of the schools’ managers”.Ali Tounsi went on to say: “I’m seizing this opportunity to ask you to be more alert in view of the critical situation that’s still prevailing in the country”. Hinting at the looming terrorist threat over the country, the colonel added “Criminals, terrorists and police forces’ foes are still lying in wait for us”. Ali Tounsi penned the new recruits as the “ new martyrs” because they are committed to their country so did the martyrs in the past adding that “ joining the security forces was a sacrifice in itself”.
