No press release was issued at the end of this major encounter but well-informed sources told “Echorouk” that the head of state Mr Abdellaziz Bouteflika was conveyed an exhaustive and in-depth report outlining the sustained efforts made by the various security services and the national popular army in the total eradication of the last remnants of terrorist gangs in some parts of the country.
- The report described Algeria’s security situation as steadily improving and totally under control as the unrelenting counter-terrorism struggle waged by the elements of the various security services and those of the national popular army is gaining major successes on all fronts thanks to their all-out vigilance and abnegation to combat this nefarious scourge.
- The report also highlighted the unflagging efforts made to stamp out organized crime and all sorts of banditry in the four corners of Algeria with the use of all necessary legal means.

- The event will focus on “the partnership between the countries in the region (Algeria, Mali, Mauritania and Niger) and partners from outside the region” in the fields of security and development.
- The topics will include counterterrorism, the fight against organized crime and assistance to member-states of the Joint Military Staff Committee of the Sahel Region (CEMOC).
- Representatives of the UN Security Council members, the European Union, the International Centre for Counter-terrorism, the World Bank and the African Development Bank (AFDB) will also attend the upcoming Algiers conference.
