President Tebboune to Address the Nation on Sunday

President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune will address the nation on Sunday before the members of Parliament in both chambers at the Palace of Nations in Algiers.

This is the second meeting that brings together the President with representatives of the people, within the framework of the annual tradition he established in 2023, dedicated to reviewing the most important national files and discussing plans.

Through this anticipated annual address, the President seeks to fulfil the pledges he made when he took the constitutional oath on September 17, at the beginning of his second term, which includes promoting constructive dialogue as a basic means of managing public affairs, while emphasizing his deep commitment to transparency and accountability.

Through this initiative, President Tebboune seeks to establish a culture of transparency in all state institutions and deepen the relationship between the authorities and the citizens, ensuring stability and sustainable development in various fields.

According to experts in political affairs, the President is expected to address many important files before Parliament, such as presenting what has been achieved during 2024 in all areas. He will also provide more details about his commitments in his second term, especially concerning deepening democracy and strengthening national cohesion through a comprehensive policy based on dialogue with all political components of the country.

Article 150 of the Constitution stipulates the right of the President of the Republic to address the nation, which is an important constitutional mechanism. The President activates this article to present his vision on many important files. It is also an occasion to recall the provisions of the 2020 Constitution, which is a fundamental pillar in achieving this goal. It is a representative constitution that resulted from extensive consultations that included all political and academic activities.

According to observers, using this constitutional mechanism is an important step towards establishing the separation of powers and consolidating participatory democracy. It opens the door to an important phase of reforms to enhance the country’s stability and develop its institutions on strong legal and constitutional foundations.

This coincides with the announcement of the National People’s Assembly, on Saturday, that the President of the Republic will address the nation, before the two chambers of Parliament, on Sunday, at the Palace of Nations in Algiers Club des Pins.

Some MPs expected that President Tebboune would address many current issues in this meeting, and review the most important national and international files and their implications, such as amending the municipality and wilaya laws and early local elections, reviewing the associations and parties law, comprehensive national dialogue and economic challenges, and other issues that impose themselves.

This meeting is the second of its kind since President Tebboune assumed his duties, and comes as a continuation of the approach of direct communication that he established in his first address on December 25, when he reviewed the achievements of the first term, affirming his ambitious vision to achieve comprehensive development and enshrine the principle of freedoms. This current meeting represents a new stage for renewing dialogue with the nation’s representatives, as it is expected to shed light on the features of the next stage. The President is also expected to address the general situation in the country and present a comprehensive statement on the latest political and economic developments.
