Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Ben Salmane will visit Algiers on December 2, at the time as some voices, especially Islamic parties, refused his visit to Algeria.

Informed sources told Echorouk that the unprecedented and first visit of Prince Mohammed Ben Salmane will be on December 2, as Ben Salmane embarked on an Arab tour that he initiated by visiting his allies, the United Arab Emirates, then Bahrain and Egypt, the countries that are boycotting Qatar since June 2017, which is accused, according to them, of “spreading terrorism, extremism and destabilizing the region”.

Before the date of the visit, the Foreign Minister, Abdelkader Messahel, received on Monday the new ambassador of the Kingdom, Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al-Omairini. During the meeting, he presented a copy of his credentials as the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria”, Saudi Official News Agency said.

Observers said the visit will be an opportunity to discuss the oil file, which prices declined significantly in the recent period, because of the large supplies of Saudi Arabia, as it was explained by the General Manager of Sonatrach, Abdelmoumene Ould Kaddour, but the Energy Minister, Mostafa Guitouni, ruled out the discussion on the oil file during the visit, and said, “The visit of the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Ben Salmane has nothing to do with oil prices”, and recorded “the upcoming visit of the Prince, which is friendly and brotherly to the President, Abdelaziz Bouteflika”.

A number of voices began to express their rejection of the visit of Mohammed Ben Salmane, in the form of the President of the Movement for Society and Peace, Abderrazzak Mokri, and after him the head of the National Construction Movement, Abdelkader Ben Guerina, who counted 14 points, saying that it makes the upcoming visit of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Ben Salmane “Not welcomed”.

In a lengthy publication on Facebook,, Ben Guerina reviewed the points and explained that “the Algerian foreign ministry is forced to take steps to arrange a visit that would possibly create a rift in the political decision”.

The most prominent of these points, “the difference of views on several files such as Yemen, Libya, Syria and Tunisia, in addition to the position on the Palestinian issue, the Sahara region, the siege on Qatar, in addition to the killing of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi”.

However, the former minister asserted that the party in its position “does not increase the state in terms of foreign relationships”, but “it is under its roof within the framework of the national interest”.

The Socialist Workers’ Party also called on workers and citizens to protest against the visit of the Arab reactionary leader who is allied with Zionism and imperialism.

The party declared its readiness to “take initiatives to denounce this visit and solidarity with the struggle of peoples that are oppressed by imperialism and Zionism, and the reactionary regimes in the region”.

The statement that was issued by the Foreign Minister, Abdelkader Messahel, condemned the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, two months after it happened, and confirmed “his confidence in Saudi justice to reveal all the details of the case”, and some of the readings said that the position of the Foreign Ministry “aligns” with Riyadh’s position from the case that reveals every day some of its secrets.
