Registration of Import Orders 2025 Starts For All Products
The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion officially announced the opening of import files for 2025, through a notice issued by the National Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade “ALGEX”, where the platform was opened for economic operators to register import orders for raw materials, products and goods intended for sale during 2025, knowing that the Finance Law 2025 expects imports of goods worth $ 46.07 billion during the current year.
In this regard, a new notice from the National Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (ALGEX) included the following: “For the year 2025, importers of raw materials, products and goods intended for sale on the spot are requested to submit their requests on the agency’s official platform to begin adjudicating import requests for the year 2025.”
It is known that import requests are studied according to market needs, the quantity requested by the operators and their ability to import, by the National Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade “ALGEX” affiliated with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion created in the government amendment approved by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on November 18, and headed by Mohamed Boukhari as Minister of the sector.
In parallel, the Ministry of Internal Trade and National Market Control has requested that economic operators register their stocks of raw materials and goods intended for sale and import estimates for 2025. This data must be uploaded to the digital platform for the certificate of respect by the March 31, 2025, as a deadline.
Accordingly, an instruction was sent to the regional directors of trade to inform the provincial directors of trade in 58 wilayas to allow those who have obtained prior import licenses to upload their data, thus avoiding fluctuations in the supply of the national market with various products.
The Ministry asked its directorates to allow economic operators who have failed to submit the sales status for the first half of last year and the number of stocks for the same period to complete these procedures before March 31, 2025, and to enable economic operators, exceptionally, to settle their situation by cancelling the withdrawal decisions and allow them to upload statistics for the first half of 2024 and lift the reservations registered by the relevant services.
As for the statistics related to the second half of 2024, the sales status and the quantity of stocks will be uploaded and deposited via the digital platform before March 31. The Ministry of Commerce also requested that the officials of the external services open an economic investigation at the level of economic operators who have not deposited the sales status and quantity of stocks for the first half of 2024 and provide the central administration with the results of the investigation as soon as possible.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune confirmed during the last cabinet meeting on Sunday that Algeria had not banned imports in any field except for what is manufactured locally and meets the needs of the national market, giving strict instructions to the government to confront attempts to distort Algerian products’ image among global brands.
Abdelmadjid Tebboune recalled once again that Algeria has not banned imports in any field except for what is manufactured locally and whose production volume meets the needs of the national market, adding that the stated goal is to “rationalize and organize imports according to the people and curb repeated attempts at speculation in imported products such as spare parts, for which no decision has been issued to ban their import which is open to this day.”
