Renault must manufacture 100,000 cars per year in Algeria
French cars maker Renault must manufacture 100,000 cars per year in Algeria and investments should be real and not just commercial representation, Algerian industry minister Mohamed Ben Meradi said on Monday.
- “Negotiations with Renault are making progress. The issue needs meticulous study of technical, commercial and economic aspects. The French cars maker must manufacture a varied composition of 100,000 cars at least annually in Algeria,” Mohamed Ben Meradi said in a sub-contracting exhibition in Algiers.
- “I met 180 French small and middle-sized companies on my last visit to Paris. They are all ready for investment in Algeria. Yet, the country wants real investments and not commercial representation,” he added.
- “That encouraged me to discuss all the axes relating to current and future projects.”
- On the same visit, partnership in cement industry with Lafarge and Total’s hydrocarbons investment were examined. “Those issues reached the middle of the way and an agreement can be reached about them.”
