Rezzag Bara: “Algeria refuses to play the role of policeman in the region”
The Advisor to the President of the Republic, Kamel Rezzag Bara, has reaffirmed Algeria’s steadfast stance in dealing through dialogue and negotiations with crises and conflicts experienced by neighbouring countries.
Mr Rezzag Bara who was the guest Thursday of a national radio interview program aired by channel 3, asserted that Algeria has endeavored relentlessly to resolve disputes, but at the same time refuses to play the role of policeman, given that it is firmly opposed to military solutions as a way of settling regional conflicts.
“We don’t want to emerge as a regional power which seeks to dominate here and there, but we want to help the neighboring countries through peaceful dialogue within the international legitimacy to achieve ways and means that can help solve their internal problems, he pointed out.”
Mr Rezzag Bara also emphasized that Algeria’s Constitution forbids and prohibits its army from launching any military interventions on foreign fronts stressing that Algeria devotes instead its active diplomacy in the pursuit of peaceful and negotiated settlement of conflicts and crises in the entire region with no meddling in other countries’ domestic affairs.
