Russia delivers two Sokhoy fighters to Algeria

Algeria has acquired another quota of Russian warplanes as part of the transfer of the Algerian debt towards Moscow , the Russian company for the military equipment “Irkut” revealed.

The announcement made by the Siberia-based company which was yesterday reported by the Russian news agency, “Novosty” talks about two fighters of the

type “ SO 30 AM KA” as a first step over the year 2008

.

To avoid what happened with the two “MIG 15” , which didn’t meet the Algerian expectations, the Russian company has this time around made thorough tests on the two fighters before delivery.

With this new deal, the number of the fighters “SO 30 AM KA” has reached the total of 6 in the 28 agreed upon in the deal signed between the two countries in March 2006 following the state visit made by the former Russian president , Vladimir Putin to Algeria.

This type of fighters is highly praised by the Algerian military fleet for their great abilities during the combats and long- range fuel autonomy as well as their high speed reaching some 2400 Km/H in addition to their capacity to transport an important quantity of ammunition.
