Saadane promises to reach 2010 World Cup
Rabeh Saadane

Algerian national team coach Rabeh Saadane said the first objective of his team is to reach the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

  • The players are on their preparations for their difficult mission in Kigali where North Africans Morocco lost a match in the previous round of qualifying.
  • “Rwanda cares a lot for its national team. Victory in Kigali is difficult. We will go to Kigal to win though we know how much the mission is difficult,” Saadane said in a TV program.
  • He also said the weather will help the Algerian team. “We will play in conditions similar to that of Algeria. That will help us a lot contrary to what happened in Senegal, Gambia and Liberia.”
  • He added that he follows all his players and he will choose the best of them to play against Rwanda. He also said the team’s performance has improved especially after Ghezzal and Djebbour joined them.
  • Saadane said he was sorry for what happened to the Algerian international Brahim Hamdani and Glasgow Rangers midfielder. “Hamdani is an excellent player but his situation with his club Glasgow Rangers complicated the situation. We can not call for a player who does not play fir his club.”
  • Speaking about professionalism, Saadane said the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) and the national team are getting more professional. “For example, we dealt with all organisation and preparation procedures before the matches against Zambia and Egypt.”
